Biography for Association of Media Literacy


Diana Maliszewski is a teacher-librarian and media literacy educator in the Toronto District School Board. An AML board member,  Diana has presented at conferences all over North America on topics such as gaming in education, graphic novels, popular culture, and children’s literature. Her awards include the Follett International Teacher-Librarian of the Year Award from the Canadian Association of School Libraries, as well as the OLA President's Award for Exceptional Achievement for work on the Together for Learning project. Diana Maliszewski works at Agnes Macphail Public School in Toronto. She is the editor of The Teaching Librarian, the official magazine of the Ontario School Library Association. Diana first discovered comics when she began her Masters of Education studies with the University of Alberta and now often raves about the virtues of graphic novels on panels, in workshops and online. She was Canada’s 2008 Teacher-Librarian of the Year and attends the Toronto Comics Arts Festival regularly.
